Announcements for this week

The Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost

If you are a newcomer or a visitor—welcome!  Please fill out a contact card found in your pew.  Let’s get to know one another!  St. Joseph’s is a place of worship, prayer, fellowship and study.  Normally, we pray Morning Prayer at 7:30 a.m. and Evening Prayer at 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Please join us for prayer and fellowship whenever you can.  The “poor plate” located by the baptismal font funds our fellowship and outreach ministries.  Thank you for your gifts!

Clergy schedule: Karen’s normal Sabbath is Monday.   Deacon James can be reached at jamestoddemail@gmail.com

Karen will be attending a clergy conference on Wednesday so there will be no Healing Eucharist this WednesdayFollowing Evening Prayer at 5:30 PM, there will be a pot luck dinner at 6 PM and a class on Contemplative Prayer Practices led by Zack Storey at 7 PM.

Does your change jar need extra space? We are collecting “quarters for cleaning” for our neighbors who need to do their laundry at the laundromat.  Each load costs about $5 in quarters, so if you have quarters you’d like to donate, just put them in a baggie marked for laundry!  Thank you!

Collection for St. Joseph’s community in need:   We invite you to bring any of the following items and place them in the basket at the back of the church for our breakfast and outreach needs; these items are part of the offerings of our life and labor:

ground coffee                                                         toilet paper/paper towels

tee shirts and work pants (32—38)                grits

men’s underwear (32, 34, 36)                          socks

travel or trial size toiletries                              quarters

Prayer and Breakfast—The St. Joseph’s community prays Morning and Evening Prayer each weekday. Each day after Morning Prayer, we host a simple community breakfast for a dozen to two dozen people. With the academic year now upon us, the schedules of some people involved in this ministry will be changing and so opportunities to serve on particular days will be opening up. If you may be called to this ministry, you can learn more by contacting Deacon James Todd at jamestoddemail@gmail.com.

The 2018 NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) North Carolina Annual Conference will be held on October 12 at the Greensboro-High Point Marriott Airport in Greensboro, North Carolina. At this year’s Conference, we will be examining integrated healthcare and what it means with the theme “360° of Wellness”.  For more information and registration:https://naminc.org
